Day 1 : Pretoria – Kruger National Park
We drive eastwards via Witbank and Middelburg to Nelspruit and enter the Kruger National Park in the south. Our encounter with the wild life starts here. Tonight we enter our camp for dinner and overnight

Day 2 : Kruger National Park
Today is completely devoted to game viewing as we search for the 'Big Five' amongst other animals. We reach our camp at sunset for dinner and overnight. Some may want to do a night drive in an open game viewing vehicle utilising high powered spotlights to find the nocturnal animals (optional).

Day 3 : Kruger National Park – Panorama Route – Hazyview
After a final game drive and breakfast, we leave the park and drive via Klaserie and the Abel Erasmus Pass to the Escarpment and visit Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window and the Pinnacle Rock. Travel via Graskop to our hotel.

Day 4 : Pilgrim’s Rest – Johannesburg - Port Elizabeth
Visit the Lone Creek Falls and then the national heritage town of Pilgrim’s Rest. Take a walk through the main street and get carried away to the late nineteenth century when this little village was bustling with activity as a result of the alluvial gold found here. From here we return via Robber's Pass to reach O R Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) late afternoon for your flight to Port Elizabeth*.

Arrival in Port Elizabeth, transfer to your guest house.

Day 5 : Port Elizabeth – Garden Route - Knysna
This morning we join the Garden Route tour. Our first stop is Storms River with the impressive Paul Sauer Bridge across the valley towering some 139 m above the river. We visit the Tsitsikamma National Park (Khoisan for 'The place of much water') stretching over 100 km of wild and rocky coastline characterised by massive cliffs, narrow isolated beaches and shady indigenous forests along the river valleys. Then we traverse through magnificently scenic river valley passes to Plettenberg Bay for a short visit. Continue to Knysna. We join a sundowner cruise on the lagoon.

Day 6 : Garden Route - Oudtshoorn
Spend the morning in Knysna visiting the “Heads” etc. Knysna also offers shopping opportunities of unusual locally made art and craft, etc. This afternoon we experience some of the most magical views on the Garden Route and Wilderness National Park and scenic viewpoints along the way. We travel over the Outeniqua Mountains to the Little Karoo where we visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch and Valley of Ancients, an endangered species breeding facility extraordinaire. Then travel to our hotel.

Day 7 : Oudtshoorn - Mossel Bay
After breakfast we visit an Ostrich Show Farm for some unique experiences including ostrich racing. A ride on a back of an ostrich is not for the fainthearted. We visit the Cango Caves, regarded as one of South Africa's foremost natural wonders. The fascinating calcite caves comprise an underground wonderland of stalactites and stalagmites. Visit Oudtshoorn, also called the "Feather capital" of the world, as over ninety percent of the world's ostrich farms are found here. Continue to Mossel Bay.

Day 8 : Mossel Bay – Hermanus – Cape Town
We visit arguably the oldest post office in Africa, the Post Office Tree and the site of the first landfall, made by the Portuguese explorer Bartholomew Dias in 1488. Continue to Hermanus, the best place in the World to spot Whales from land – (July to Dec). After lunch depart for Cape Town via the beautiful coastal route between Hermanus and Gordon’s Bay, arriving late afternoon.

Day 9 : Cape Town
Cape Town, Tavern of the Seas, with the majestic Table Mountain as a backdrop, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. An electric mix of architectural styles, cobble stone streets and cultural diversity enhance the cosmopolitan ambience. Some of the highlights we visit are Signal Hill, Malay Quarters, Castle of Good Hope, Companies Gardens and Government Avenue, House of Parliament, S.A. Museum and final drive to Milnerton for a full view of Table Mountain with the city in its lap. The afternoon is spent at leisure,shopping, exploring the Waterfront area or perhaps a tour to Robben Island.

Day 10 : Cape Winelands – Paarl – Franschhoek - Stellenbosch
Dominated by Indigo Mountains, the Cape wine routes are immensely popular throughout the year. The wine lands provide wonderful opportunities for wine lovers to sample some noble vintages and explore exquisitely furnished Cape Dutch Manor Houses. Highlights of this tour include Paarl with its rich history of wine making and the role it played in the development of the Afrikaans language, Franschhoek Valley where French settlers settled after fleeing persecution in France in the late 17th century, We visit some of this area’s most famous wine estates*. We spend time in Stellenbosch with its many historic buildings and some unique shopping opportunities before returning to Cape Town. A great tour to sample some of South Africa’s best wine!

As the wine estates do not offer wine-tasting on Sundays, should “Day 10” fall on a Sunday, we instead visit more wine estates, but there is no tasting.
Day 11 : Cape Town – departure
After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to Cape Town’s International Airport for departure flight. (B)

Do visitors need a visa to travel to South Africa?
Visitors from most Western European countries, Japan, and USA don't require visas. If you aren't entitled to an entry permit, you'll need to get a visa before you arrive.
Can you book a rental car in South Africa or should you arrange car hire in your own country before departure?
If essential, book car rental prior to coming to South Africa, as car rental companies might be fully booked when you get here. However, there are a number of well-known car rental companies to choose from at international airports and in locations across the country, so on the spot bookings should generally not be a problem.
Does one need an international driver's license for South Africa?
Foreign driving licenses are valid in South Africa for up to 6 months, but must be printed in English. However if you don't have such a license, you'll need to get an International Driving Permit.
How about laundry service?
Most establishments have in-house laundry services, most towns have self-operated launderettes where you can do your laundry at a very reasonable cost.
How much does one tip in South Africa?
10-15 % if the service fee is not included. It is customary to tip porters, waiters, taxi drivers, caddies, tour guides, hairdressers and room service. By law hotel rates do not include a service charge.
Are there any smoking restrictions in South Africa?
Smoking has been banned in public areas in South Africa, but there usually are designated areas where you can smoke. The law also prohibits anyone under 18 from entering a designated smoking area and from buying cigarettes.
Do you need to take malaria precautions for South Africa?
Most parts of South Africa are malaria-free. Consult your doctor or travel clinic regarding appropriate malaria prophylaxis. You can further minimise the risk by wearing mosquito repellent and sleeping under a mosquito net.
Do you need vaccinations for South Africa?
Typhoid and injection against hepatitis A and B are both necessary.
Does one need a yellow fever innoculation before entering South Africa?
A yellow fever innoculation and certificate from travellers over a year of age coming from an infected area, is an official requirement.
Is the tap water safe to drink?
Tap water is safe to drink, though one might consider bottled water in rural areas.
