SELEOUS RUAHA
Day 1
Arrive Dar es salam international airport, you will be transferred by a light aircraft to the Selous Reserve. You will be met on arrival at the airstrip by your guide, game viewing en route to Rufiji River Camp
Days 2 - 3
Morning and afternoon game viewing activities in the Selous. The Reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage site, this huge wilderness area is four times the size of the Serengeti. It supports some of the biggest herds left in Africa, with an estimated 30,000 elephants and 200,000 buffalo as well as large herds of all the other game. There are plenty of hippo and crocodiles, wildebeest, hartebeest, kudu, sable antelope, eland, reedbuck, bushbuck, zebras and giraffe. It is also a very good place to African wild dogs (also called hunting dogs). Around 450 species of birds have recorded in this game reserve. The Rufiji River runs through the park, pretty much bisecting it into a northern and southern section, and most people tend to visit the area to the north of the river. Overnight Luxury Tented Camp
Day 4 - 6
Light aircraft transfer to Ruaha National park, Tanzania's second largest park. It is very wild and remote. Most people spend their stay around the Great Ruaha River. Large sections of the park are inaccessible, but it is that very fact which makes this one of the last unspoiled stretches of Africa. The scenery here is spectacular with mature miombo forests and huge baobabs trees. The river is full of hippos and crocodiles and the rolling woodlands and plains are teeming with game. It has the greatest concentration of Lesser and Greater Kudus of any East African park and has a huge population of elephants - some 12000. Ruaha is an excellent park for predators. Lions are numerous and well used to vehicles. The park also has a good reputation for leopard sightings. Ruaha has a significant wild dog population currently estimated at 100. Transfer to airstrip for connecting flights to Dar es Salaam.
