Local and Global Involvement

Impact African Safaris (IAS) believes in giving back to the community by working with local community organizations and international charities. IAS was founded with the purpose of helping to improve the lives of local people. IAS works with community people so that they benefit from reliable local employment and gain income to look after their families.

Porter and Tour Guide Training

Currently, IAS is working with HAI District Council on a project to train 400 porters and tour guides to support climbs on Mount Kilimanjaro. Hai District Council and IAS identified the need for this training when they realized that local people were not gaining enough benefit from the climbing economy. IAS has volunteered to support some of the training costs. To date, HAI District has trained about 50 residents of Machame village to work as porters and guides on the Machame Route.

The training courses include:

• English Language Training
• Customer Service
• First Aid and CPR
• Hospitality and Tourism Awareness

Nkwasangare Primary School

Nkwasangare Primary School is an elementary public school situated on the slope of Mount Kilimanjaro in Nshara Village. The school has an enrolment of 302 girls and boys aged 6 to 14 who are studying Standard 1 to 7. While the school gets some financial support from the Tanzanian government, resources are limited. The school is stretched to capacity. Students would benefit from more desks, textbooks, classroom expansion and environmental improvements like new latrines. With your help, IAS has volunteered to support these improvements.
